beata viscera & viderunt omnes I

these two pieces are acousmatic works based on recordings of Pérotin’s Beata Viscera and of Léonin’s Viderunt Omnes, and on electromagnetic recordings (translating electromagnetic activity into sound through the use of a passive antenna, i.e. a coil of copper wire soldered to an audio cable).

although quite different, they both explore the contrast between the organic and stable qualities of early polyphony, and the aggressive, synthetic timbres of electromagnetic sounds.

they are part of an ongoing series of pieces based on similar materials (recordings of pieces from the Notre-Dame school of polyphony and electromagnetic recordings).
